Booking a ticket
- A booking is confirmed only when payment succeeds and a PNR is issued. Until then seats are held temporarily and may be released.
- Passenger name and mobile number must be accurate. The operator may refuse boarding if the details on the ticket do not match the passenger.
- The e-ticket with its PNR must be presented at boarding, on a phone or printed.
Fares and payment
- Fares are set by the bus operator and may change between searches until a booking is confirmed.
- Payments are processed by Razorpay. JD Bus does not see or store card or UPI details.
- The fare shown at checkout is the total payable for the seats selected.
Cancellation and refunds
- Cancellations made 24 hours or more before departure are refunded at 90% of the amount you paid.
- Cancellations made between 12 and 24 hours before departure are refunded at 50% of the amount you paid.
- Cancellations made less than 12 hours before departure are not refundable.
- Refunds are returned to the original payment method and may take up to 7 working days to appear.
Boarding and journey
- Passengers should reach the boarding point at least 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
- Departure and arrival times are estimates. Traffic, weather and road conditions can cause delays.
- The bus operator is responsible for the journey, the condition of the vehicle and the conduct of its crew.
Role of JD Bus
- JD Bus sells tickets on behalf of private bus operators. The transport service itself is provided by the operator.
- If the operator cancels a trip, every paid booking on it is cancelled and refunded in full.
Paid places for bus companies
- Any bus company selling on JD Bus can pay to have its bus shown first on the JD Bus website: at the top of the search for one route it picks, at the top of every search its buses are part of, or on the home page.
- The JD Bus office sets one price for each, the same for every company. A route can have a price of its own, which is the same for every company on that route.
- A trip is one bus leaving once. A bus that goes out and comes back on the same day makes two trips. A company pays the price for each trip of its bus that came up at the top of a search on someone's screen on the JD Bus website, and for each day its home page card was shown. A trip is charged after the bus has left, and never beyond the most the company agreed before its ad began.
- Nothing is charged for a trip that did not run or was cancelled, a trip that never came up at the top of a search on someone's screen (it had no seats online, was leaving within half an hour, or nobody searched for it), a trip while the ad was paused or stopped, or anything past the most the company agreed. Search engines, link previews, and anyone signed in to JD Bus as staff or as a bus company are never counted.
- Any number of companies can pay for the same search. When more have paid than there are places, they take turns, each as often as the others.
- A paid bus is always one that makes the passenger's journey on the day searched, with seats online, at the same fare it has anywhere else. It is marked Sponsored, in English and Odia, with the name of the company that paid. When a passenger sorts by price, journey time or seats left, no bus is put first for payment.
- A company can stop its ad at any time, and trips already shown are still charged. JD Bus can pause or stop an ad at any time.
- The JD Bus office can book a place for a company that agrees by phone, at the office, by WhatsApp or by letter. The office writes down how and when the company agreed, and the place still needs JD Bus's approval before it starts.
